The Mentalist approach
A new practical framework for understanding English grammar as a system of meaning
A new practical approach, built on established linguistic ideas
The Mentalist Approach does not claim to invent grammar from nothing. It is a practical synthesis of ideas from modern linguistics, adapted for teaching and self-study.
It draws on the mentalist view of language, cognitive grammar, lexical semantics, typology, and Russian-English comparison — but presents these ideas in a practical way.
The result is a new way of looking at English grammar: not as disconnected rules, but as a system of conceptual choices.
Who this book is for:
Learn or teach better
This book is about effciency
(01)
This book is written primarily for English teachers, teacher trainers, and methodologists who like to adapt materials rather than follow a coursebook mechanically.

(02)
It does not offer a fixed sequence of lessons or strict classroom instructions. Its main focus is conceptual: it gives teachers a deeper framework for explaining grammar, comparing English and Russian, and reshaping the syllabus around meaning rather than isolated rules.
(03)
The framework can be used alongside familiar teaching models such as PPP and communicative teaching. You do not need to abandon your current method. You can gradually introduce the ideas into explanations, examples, drills, and lesson planning.
(04)
Independent learners can also benefit from the book, especially if they already know basic grammar terminology and want a deeper understanding of English. However, this is not a beginner grammar course. It assumes that the reader already knows basic concepts such as tense, aspect, gerund, stative verbs, and modal verbs.
